Overview

A thigh lift removes excess skin from the inner or outer thighs to improve their firmness and contour. Dr. Hermes recommends it when laxity does not respond to exercise, often after significant weight loss. The goal is a firmer, proportionate, natural-looking contour.

Dr. Hermes's approach

Dr. Hermes places the incision according to the area treated, in the groin crease or on the inner thigh to keep it discreet. He removes excess skin and, when localized fat is present, may combine it with liposculpture to refine the contour. His humanistic, safety-first approach guides layered closure and postoperative care during follow-up.

Risks and honesty

Risks include visible scars (inherent to this procedure), wound-healing issues in an area of movement and friction, seroma, infection, sensation changes, and minor asymmetry. The area may take longer to heal due to its location. Dr. Hermes minimizes risks with careful technique and follow-up, though no procedure is risk-free and results vary.

Are you a good candidate?

Ideal candidates have skin laxity on the thighs, frequently after weight loss or due to aging, that does not improve with physical activity. A stable weight, good health, and accepting that the procedure leaves scars in exchange for the contour change are important. Realistic expectations are essential.

Recovery, step by step

  1. 01

    First 5-7 days

Swelling and bruising in the thighs, a feeling of tightness when walking. Use of a compression garment and relative rest with very short walks. Spreading the legs widely is avoided to protect the scar. Medication manages discomfort.

  2. 02

    Week 2-3

Swelling begins to subside and mobility gradually improves. Many patients resume light tasks. The compression garment continues and scars are still cared for, avoiding strain. The skin of the area gradually settles.

  3. 03

    Week 4-6

Noticeable improvement in swelling and thigh contour. Gradual return to light physical activity as directed. The compression garment continues. The scars are maturing.

  4. 04

    Month 3-12

The thigh contour looks firmer as residual swelling resolves. Return to full exercise once cleared. Scars lighten and fade gradually over 12-18 months. Scar care supports their evolution.

Frequently asked

Depending on the technique, the scar may sit in the groin crease or extend along the inner thigh, planned to be as discreet as possible. They are permanent but tend to lighten with time and care. Dr. Hermes will explain the option suited to you honestly.

Yes, in many cases it is combined with liposculpture to refine the contour when there is localized fat in addition to laxity. The decision depends on your anatomy and on it being safe for you. Dr. Hermes will define the best approach in your consultation.

The thighs are an area of movement, friction, and moisture, which can make healing somewhat slower. That is why postoperative care and follow-up are especially important. Every recovery is different and timelines vary.
