Overview
A tummy tuck removes excess abdominal skin and, when needed, repairs muscles that separated due to pregnancy or weight changes. Dr. Hermes restores a firmer, flatter abdomen, bringing proportion back to your silhouette. The result aims to look natural and in keeping with the rest of your body.
Dr. Hermes's approach
Dr. Hermes makes a low incision, positioned so it can be hidden under underwear, to remove excess skin and reposition the navel naturally. When diastasis is present, he sutures and reinforces the muscles to firm the abdominal wall. His humanistic, safety-first approach guides each step, with layered closure and close follow-up for a well-supported recovery.
Risks and honesty
As a major surgery, a tummy tuck carries risks: seroma (fluid buildup), wound-healing issues, infection, temporary or permanent skin sensation changes, and, in less common cases, skin circulation problems. The scar is permanent, although it tends to improve over time. Dr. Hermes minimizes these risks with meticulous technique and follow-up, but no procedure is risk-free and results vary.
Are you a good candidate?
Ideal candidates have excess skin or abdominal laxity, separation of the abdominal muscles (diastasis), or changes after pregnancy or weight loss. Good health, a stable weight, and no plans for pregnancy in the near term are important. Realistic expectations are essential.

Ready to take the first step?Recovery, step by step
- 01
First 5-7 days
Moderate discomfort controlled with medication and a slightly flexed posture when walking and sleeping. Use of a compression garment and, in many cases, temporary drains. Rest with very short walks to support circulation. Avoid all strain.
- 02
Week 2-3
Swelling begins to subside and you can gradually straighten your posture more. Many patients resume light tasks or desk work. The garment is maintained and heavy lifting avoided. Drains, if used, are usually removed in this stage.
- 03
Week 4-6
Noticeable improvement in mobility and swelling. Gradual return to light physical activity as directed. The garment continues to support the contour. The scar is still maturing.
- 04
Month 3-12
The abdomen looks firmer and flatter as residual swelling resolves. Return to full exercise once cleared, including core work. The scar lightens and fades gradually over 12-18 months. Keeping a stable weight helps preserve the result.

Frequently asked
The incision is placed in the lower abdomen, planned so it can be hidden under underwear or a swimsuit. The scar is permanent but tends to lighten and fade with time and care. Dr. Hermes will explain how to care for it to support its evolution.
Yes, a later pregnancy is possible, but it may affect the result by stretching the skin and muscles again. That is why a tummy tuck is usually recommended when you do not plan pregnancy in the near term. Each case is different and worth discussing in consultation.
No. Liposuction removes localized fat, while a tummy tuck removes excess skin and repairs the muscle wall. They are sometimes combined for a better contour, if it is safe for you. Dr. Hermes will define the most suitable approach in your consultation.
